GWSP participated in 5 finals on the weekend which was an awesome effort.

Well done to all the girls and coaching teams involved. The results were as follows:

13A: South Barwon 28 d GWSP 18

15A: GWSP 29 d St.Joseph's 13

Seniors A Grade: South Barwon 60 d GWSP 35

Bad luck to the 13A's and 13B's who have been knocked out of the competition. You gave it all you had and did your Club proud. There are many positives to take into next Season. We look forward to seeing you back next year. Now that you've tasted Finals experience, no doubt you will be hungry for more.

15A, 17A and Senior A teams all have another chance this week. The games are all on Sunday and the times are as follows:

9.15: 15A GWSP v St.Alban's

10.15: 17A GWSP v Grovedale

2.35: Senior A GWSP v Colac

It was great to see so many supporters at the games to cheer on the girls last weekend. There was a sea of red and white hoodies and even an original catchy chant to keep the girls fired up. (Well done Tess!) We hope you can get down to Corio Leisuretime Centre to cheer on the teams this weekend. It is a great opportunity to see some excellent netball and the vocal support really lifts the girls.

Good luck to all teams and GO WEST!!!

15 Div 1 defeated St Joseph’s 29 to 13. Elimination Final
A very disciplined and focused effort from the 15u girls on Sunday saw them play their best game of the year (so far!)  Solid performances from ALL 9 girls but special mention has to go to our circle defenders Steph Boyce and Elise Karpinski who kept Joeys to 4 goals by half time.  In the 2nd quarter Joeys didn’t even get to put up a shot!  Mary Waldron (just out from her sick bed)rewarded the defenders by hitting 26 goals from 32 attempts.  Mariah opened up space brilliantly and excellent feeding from Kathryn and Jemma made sure that Joeys defenders didn’t get many opportunities to intercept.  We made very few mistakes and our intensity through Centre court, rotating Maggie, Holly and Georgia made sure we were able to apply good pressure throughout the game.   Thank you to all those people who turned up early to cheer us on.
We now play St Albans on Sunday at 9.15, and although we haven’t beaten them this year, the girls are confident that we can improve on our last effort against them.   Jill Leader

The 13 and under girls showed great spirit and a much improved level of netball pushing South Barwon all the way in a 28 to 18 loss. Only a lapse in the second quarter prevented an upset.
Molly Gribble (the sole survivor from last years team) was our most consistent player over the four quarters providing drive from the centre position.
Grace Waldron shot well and moved well in goal attack.
Heidi Cole created space, shot well and provided drive as Goal shooter.
Chiara Caruana played her now normal strong game at wing defence.
Taylor Sharp was consistent at goal keeper and has displayed pleasing improvement in her first season of netball.
Tayla Edwards made good adjustments against a fast goal attack and intercepted some balls she simply would not have got to, earlier in the year.
Jayme Riccardi fed the shooters well and has improved the defensive aspect of her game.
Alana Bonanno has improved greatly over the course of the season and provided strong drive through the centre of the court.
I am thrilled by the girls improvement as a whole and look forward to 2011 with great anticipation with four players returning.
