Reserves

A fantastic comeback by our Reserves side on Sunday against Colac when, after trailing by nine points at the last change, the tide turned in the last and the Roosters stormed home to win by 13. Emerging forward Mitch Wight was damaging in the last and put his stamp on the contest with three telling goals as the side helped the club achieve its first senior football Preliminary Final appearance in 14 years. Angelo Marcantonio once again was also at his peak across the forward line with three majors whilst classy midfielder Josh Young again had the better of his opponents with his run and carry and efficient left boot. The defensive book ends in Gareth Donald, Nick Chapman and Elliot Hannan were all at their negatory best along with talented youngster Nathan Hook and veteran Ben Rowe was effective through the corridor all game. The side now approaches their encounter this weekend with South Barwon with renewed confidence despite being comprehensively outplayed by the Swans in Round 18. On that day, a raft of injuries and unavailabilities through the senior side saw the home side cruise to victory. Successive wins by the Roosters since, however and the massive opportunity to take part in the club’s first grand final since 1996 all count towards great self belief. Best of luck to the boys. Go Roosters!!
