MAJOR
RAFFLE A FANTASTIC SUCCESS
Last Saturday night’s Major
Raffle Draw was a fantastic night for the club. The big crowd in
attendance enjoyed themselves in fine style. Well done to Luke Sharry
and the organizing committee on a great job. Thank you to Wally Simons,
Rod Young and John Toner for their sterling efforts behind the
bar, Beth Bauer for the food, Budget, Ben Lowery and Laura Hannan for
the massive cleanup job on Sunday morning.
NETBALL:
7 OUT OF 7 AIN’T BAD
by Claire
Brushfield
What a sensational week it was for the Geelong West St Peters
Netballers! Playing Bell Park at Bell Park in what was always going to
be windy weather, all girls took the court in a cautious manner.
Under 13’s came out firing
with a win over Bell Park by a comfortable 12 goals. Bianca Caferella,
Georgia Caruana and Stephanie Boyce were among the best on the court.
Under 15’s was also
impressive winning their match 41goals to 10. Well done to Katrina
Biscan, Holly Speirs and Claire Kenneally for their efforts on the day.
Under 17’s looked unstoppable
taking their win by 38 goals. Jess Denny, Aleisha Hook and Zoe Tompkins
were dominant in the match. Well done ladies!
In a scrappy match, GWSP D
graders took the win by 11 points. Leanne Welsh was strong in GS, with Ashton
Jerinic and Kathleen Rix proving to continue their strong form in
defence.
The weather started to get
windier but it didn’t stop the C grade ladies from winning by 18 goals
– 34 to 16. Hayley Wood and Gen Scott provided speed in the mid-court,
with Stacey Whiteford using her height in defence.
B grade came out to show
they belong at number 1 on the ladder, making their point known by 26
goals. Brilliant game by Michelle King, Hannah Miller and Jess
Callaghan.
A grade had a strong win,
GWSP racking up an impressive 55 goals to Bell Park’s 10. The ladies in
the ring stole the show with Kathy Mallon playing her 50th senior game,
Bree Cail and Prue Kenney taking best on court honours.
No games were played this
week by our Friday night juniors due to Anzac Day. No doubt they are
ready and raring to go this Friday! Make sure you get down to watch
your buddy play this week. Their support was sensational during our
matches on Saturday – time to pay the juniors back by cheering them on!
Congratulations to all our
netballers for their efforts this week. All senior teams are still in
the top 5 on the ladder, with B Grade sitting on top. Great start to
the season ladies! Let’s keep our winning form going this week! We are
playing Lara, at Lara. We look forward to seeing all the netballers,
scorers, coaches, parents, friends and supporters there for another
fine round of netball!
FOOTBALL: SET
GET BACK ON TRACK AT LARA
The Roosters football sides
have set themselves to recapture that winning feeling out at the
Snakepit tomorrow after a disappointing day at Bell Park last week.
Co-captain Russell Whiteford is a big inclusion for us this week along

out of Under 18s, has been selected for his senior debut after some
great work so far this season.

so you know the real team possibly won’t line up like this or even
contain the same players):
B Adam Morrow Mark Flanders Josh Sells
HB Shane Jack Luke Sharry Paul Carson

HF Adam Jago Nathan Saunders Jay Cheep
